Configuration
Every setting in Dead Stock & Inventory Ageing, and what each one changes.
The report works with no configuration at all. Everything below is optional.
1. Access
Settings → Users & Companies → Users → (a user) → Inventory

That restriction on the Reporting menu is Odoo's, not this module's, and changing it would mean overriding a core menu — which would then surprise you on every other report underneath it.
Multi-company is enforced separately by a record rule: whatever the group, a user sees only stock belonging to companies they have access to.
2. The dead-stock threshold
Settings → Inventory → Dead Stock & Ageing → Dead After
Default 180 days. This is the threshold used by:
- the wizard's default,
- the "Show them" shortcut on the settings page,
- the weekly digest.
The page shows how many lines and how much value that threshold currently selects, so you can tune it and see the effect immediately rather than guessing.
Choosing a number
Set it to a little longer than your normal replenishment cycle. A distributor restocking monthly finds 90 days useful; a spare-parts business where a slow line is normal may want a year. Set it too low and the report is noise; set it too high and you find the problem after the money is already gone.
3. The weekly digest
Settings → Inventory → Dead Stock & Ageing → Weekly Digest
Switch it on and pick recipients. Once a week each recipient's company gets a summary of dead stock value by warehouse.
Two deliberate behaviours:
- Nothing is sent in a week with no dead stock. A digest that always arrives is a digest nobody opens, and then the one that matters goes unread with the rest.
- Recipients only see their own companies. The digest is built per company and sent only to people who belong to it.
The cron is Settings → Technical → Automation → Scheduled Actions → Dead Stock: Weekly Digest. Change the day or interval there.
4. Product costs
Value is quantity × the product's Cost field, per company. If your costs are not maintained, the quantities and ages in this report are still correct but the value column will be zero or wrong.
Products with no cost are shown with a value of zero rather than hidden — a line you cannot value is still a line you may need to act on. If the report shows a lot of zeroes, that is a genuine finding about your product data, not a fault in the report.
