Configuration
Every setting in Investment Portfolio Manager, and what each one changes.
2. Roles
Settings → Users, section Investments:
| Role | Can |
|---|---|
| Read-only Viewer | see the portfolios they are allowed to, holdings, reports |
| Portfolio Operator | record and confirm events, reverse/correct, transfers, prices, imports, valuations |
| Reconciliation Reviewer | decide duplicate candidates and reconciliation discrepancies, propose adjustments |
| Investment Accountant | configure/approve accounting policies, generate proposals, create draft entries |
| Investment Administrator | all of the above, plus exchanges, brokers, portfolios, policies, access, and confirming reconciliation adjustments; sees full account numbers |
Posting journal entries additionally requires Odoo's own accounting rights. No investment role grants them, and accounting rights alone grant no access to investment data.
3. Reference data
- Exchange — with the EGX module, Egyptian Exchange exists (Cairo time, EGP, Sunday–Thursday). Confirm its settlement lag against your broker's contract notes. Load the official holiday list: Configuration → Exchanges → Egyptian Exchange → Import holidays (CSV/XLSX: date, name, optional kind and source).
- Instruments — name (and the exchange's own name, e.g. Arabic), ISIN (check digit validated), symbol history with effective dates, currency, sector. Only equities and ETFs can be traded in release one; other types can be catalogued.
- Brokers and broker accounts — cash currencies of each account; the account number is visible to administrators only (others see it masked).
- Portfolio — reporting currency (fixed once events exist), broker accounts, staleness thresholds, amount tolerance, optional settlement-lag override, and Access: tick restrict access and list the users who may see it. Administrators always see every portfolio of their companies.
- Calculation policy (portfolio tab) — effective-dated; see calculations.md. A version used by a calculation is frozen: add a new version from a date instead of editing.
4. Opening balances
Choose one migration date. Either enter Opening cash balance and Opening position events manually (with total cost and evidence), or import the broker's position and cash snapshots in opening-balance mode (see broker-profile-guide.md). The date becomes the account's cut-off; earlier activity is refused on later imports.
6. Prices and FX
Manual entry (Valuation → Prices / FX rates) or file import (Import prices / FX: date, symbol or ISIN, price; or date, from, to, rate). An existing value from the same source is never overwritten; a different value is a reported conflict.
7. Scheduled jobs
| Job | Default | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Investments: recalculate stale portfolios | daily | refresh today's valuation where the ledger, policy or prices changed |
| Investments: process queued statement imports | every 10 minutes, and triggered on queue | parse/commit large statements in chunks |
