The questions asked most often about Product Barcode & Label Printing, answered.

Does this need Odoo Enterprise? No. Community and Enterprise both work.

Does it need the Inventory app? No. It depends on product only, so it works in a Sales-only or Point-of-Sale installation.

Which Odoo versions? 18.0 only.

How is this different from Odoo's built-in label printing? Odoo has four fixed layouts. This lets you define your own - any grid, any margins, roll labels, and control over which fields appear and at what size. It also lets you start part-way down a sheet, which Odoo does not.

Can I print onto a part-used sheet? Yes. That is what Start at Label is for. Count the missing labels left to right, then down.

Can I print different quantities of different products in one run? Yes, one line each. They print grouped rather than interleaved.

Where do I start the wizard from? Any product or variant list: tick the products, then Actions - Print Labels.

My labels are a few millimetres out, all of them by the same amount. Your print dialog is scaling. Set it to 100%, not "Fit to page".

The last row is out but the first row is fine. The vertical gap is slightly wrong; the error accumulates down the sheet. Adjust the gap, not the top margin.

How do I match my own label sheets? Measure the sheet and create a template. It takes about ten minutes including a test print. See DESIGNING_LAYOUTS.md.

What does "Print a Test Sheet" do? Fills one page with a real product so you can hold it against your labels before committing a box. Print it on plain paper.

Which barcode types are supported? EAN-13, Code 128, QR, and automatic. Automatic prints EAN-13 only when the product's barcode really is thirteen valid digits, and Code 128 otherwise.

Why does one product print "No barcode"? It has no barcode set. That is printed rather than left blank on purpose - a blank space looks like a printing fault, and this tells you the product data is incomplete.

My barcode will not scan. Usually height or quiet zone. Give it 8-10 mm of height, and do not fill the whole label width - scanners need white space either side. On very small labels, QR often scans where a linear barcode will not.

Can I print a price from a pricelist? Yes. Set Price From on the template. Two templates - one plain, one pointing at your trade pricelist - gives you retail and trade labels from the same products.

Can I print lot or serial numbers? Not in this version. Labels are per product. If you need lot labels, write to info@technovision.dev.

Can I add my own field to a label? There is a Fixed Text line for a slogan or a "Made in" note. A field from your own module needs a small customisation - get in touch.

Is there a limit? 5,000 labels per run, as a guard against a mistyped quantity. Split larger jobs.

Will an upgrade overwrite the margins I tuned? No. The shipped templates load with noupdate="1".
